The south and the Queenstown/Wanaka
area has everything from full on action and adventure to more
relaxing pass-times. Visiting one of the growing number of
boutique vineyards and wineries is a pleasant way to pass
the day. At the other end of the action spectrum are jetboating
(the jetboat is a New Zealand invention), white water rafting,
bungy jumping, canyoning, rock climbing, mountain-biking and
tandem skydive. You are sure to enjoy this area. See our links
page to Queenstown and Wanaka for more details.
At Geordie Hill
While staying at Geordie Hill you can enjoy a range of high
country station activities. Walking in our wonderful open
spaces. See sheep and cattle grazing in the hills. Join the
shepherds and their working dogs. Watch thousands of sheep
on the move. See shearing, and feel the amazing soft superfine
merino wool. Enjoy the farm four wheel drive trails. Take
a mountain bike and go for a ride. Perhaps you like to shoot
and hunt. You can find rabbits, duck and quail (in season),
geese, turkey, and wild goats. In the heat of summer you can
cool off swimming in the clean, clear water of the Lindis
River. Or just lie in the shade of a willow with a good book.
Nature & The Environment
The natural environment provides many good opportunities to
relax. Nature lovers can enjoy bird watching and seeing animals
in their natural environment. The clear still atmosphere and
wide open spaces give the mountain valleys a timeless beauty.
The native rainforest of the west coast is a spectacular contrast
to the tussock-lands east of the main divide.
